Who Yahweh Says You Should Not Marry

An interesting thing about how the scriptures are written is how they tell us what we need to know. Yahweh wrote many of His Laws from a negative point of view. "Thou Shall NOT" is probably the best example. Yahweh made us and he knows our nature. We understand negative rules perhaps better than the positive.

Because of this the scripture tells us who we are not to marry. But it can be confusing reading through it all. My eldest son created a picture for me of the related family that one can not marry. Below that I will add the remaining prohibitions.

The above was drawn based on Leviticus 18:6-16. Here is the text.

Leviticus 18:6-16

6 None of you shall approach to any who are near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness. I am Yahweh.
7 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.
8 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife. It is your father's nakedness.
9 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father or the daughter of your mother, born at home or born away. Their nakedness you shall not uncover.
10 The nakedness of your son's daughter, or of your daughter's daughter, you shall not uncover their nakedness. For theirs is your own nakedness.
11 You shall not uncover the nakedness of the daughter of your father's wife, begotten of your father. She is your sister.
12 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister. She is your father's near kinswoman.
13 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister. For she is your mother's near kinswoman.
14 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's brother. You shall not approach his wife. She is your aunt.
15 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife. You shall not uncover her nakedness.
16 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife. It is your brother's nakedness.

In verse 17 Yahweh adds:

17 You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shall you undertake to uncover her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter. They are her near kinswomen; it is wickedness

Yahweh in verse 18 also says,

18 And you shall not take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life.

It is ok for a man to take a wife's sister as a wife. The verse is talking about more intimate times and is dealt with in this article.

Verse 19 says that you should not have intercourse with a woman while she is having her period.

19 Also you shall not approach to a woman to uncover her nakedness in the impurity of her uncleanness.

Verse 20 says that you shall not have intercourse with your neighbors wife.

20 And you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

Verse 22 says that you should not have intercourse with a man as you would a woman, it is an abomination. Anal intercourse is the prohibition here and also includes doing so with a woman. This is the true meaning of Romans 1:26-27.

22 You shall not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is abomination to God.

Verse 23 says that you should not have intercourse with an animal. This command is not repeated in the new testament. This shows a flaw in the doctrine that states that if something is not repeated in the new testament that it is not a sin for us today.

23 And you shall not lie with any animal to defile yourself with it. And a woman shall not stand before an animal to lie down to it. It is a perversion.

It is assumed, from other verses including the seventh commandment, Thou shall not commit adulteration, that you also know not to marry any woman who is not your neighbor or in other words you are only to marry a Christian of the same kindred (race) as yourself. Yahweh does not consider interracial relationships as marriage. Yahweh created everything and said it was good. When one "marries" a woman of another race, each race is spoiled and becomes weaker. One of the main reasons is to prevent us from losing our faith. False gods are still with us today and other races still worship them. Sometimes this is hard to see when they say they worship our God, but under closer scrutiny one may find this to be less than true. Even if they do worship our God and I do believe there are exceptions, this does not change what Yahweh said.

I suggest one read the books of Ezra (Ezra 9 and 10), Nehemiah and Hosea for some good information on this. Nehemiah 10:28-30 is helpful. Hosea has a surprising amount said about this. This is a very touchy subject for most because our leaders and the media have done a very good job of changing the hearts of Christian men and women away from what the scripture plainly teaches. I would suggest that the Bible was better known seventy years ago. Seventy years ago people knew that miscegenation was wrong. I did a small study on this a while back. Click here for a not so obvious side to this subject. This comes under the seventh commandment, Thou Shall not commit Adultery. Adultery or adulteration is confusion in the scriptures for it means a mixing of seed. This mixing of seed includes animals and plant seed as well as the seed of man.
